We’re building the world’s best international account experience. In 2021 we launched Assets in the UK, a new type of bank account. Assets allows customers to back the money they hold with Wise through different asset classes such as stocks and bonds while retaining the instant access and spend functionality of a current account.
We’re looking for a EU Investments Lead to join our London office. You’ll be responsible for driving the geographical expansion of the Assets product globally, in addition to building the critical commercial relationships required to enable the best product experience for our customers.
You’ll be working closely with the Grow squad, a newly formed squad with a highly ambitious roadmap within Wise. The Grow squad is focused on delivering a comprehensive suite of investment and savings products globally for Wise customers. You’ll provide the squad with expansion expertise, shaping the product vision and helping change the future of finance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Expand the Assets product to new international markets
Lead and manage the end-to-end process of applying for regulatory licenses in new markets. Your first "onboarding" project will be to lead our entry into the Canadian market, securing the necessary licenses (CIRO) and continuing our North American expansion. Analyze the optimal route to market for the Assets product, taking into account how customer needs differ from market-to-market, product functionality requirements, and the local regulatory and legal landscapes.
2. Establish and manage strategic partnerships
Identify and negotiate commercial relationships with local custodians, brokers, and clearing partners to enable a seamless investment experience. You will be responsible for figuring out the ideal operational and commercial processes with these new partners. Work with our current global partners to expand our fund range into new currencies and jurisdictions.
3. Operationalise & Launch
Bridge the gap between the central product and engineering teams and our regional expansion leads in APAC and the Americas. You will act as the critical link, ensuring global product ambitions are translated into local reality and adjusted when needed to fit local requirements.
Qualifications
Experience: You have extensive experience in investment management, fintech, expansion, with a track record of navigating complex regulatory environments.
You get things done: You are a doer. You have a high bias for action and can "unblock" projects autonomously in a high-growth environment.
Regulatory expertise: you are "in the documents." You have a proven track record of drafting high-stakes regulatory submissions and license applications from scratch.
Willingness to take regulatory exams: You are willing and able to sit and pass professional regulatory exams (e.g. CIRO or other local equivalents) when required to support our license applications and local regulatory obligations.
You have a commercial mindset: You understand financial products, how they work, as well as their risks and target markets. You are able to figure out the ideal operational and commercial process with new partners.
You have a good understanding of investment services regulation: You are comfortable navigating complex environments (e.g., FCA, CIRO, FINRA/SEC) and can translate those requirements into a clear strategy.
You are passionate about our mission: You want to transform the financial industry for good.
You have flexibility for international travel: (around 10-20% of time).
