The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Depot Driver / Ground Shunter to join a busy and safety-critical rail operation.
This role sits at the heart of depot operations, responsible for the safe movement, preparation, inspection and disposal of trains, locomotives and rolling stock within depots and sidings.
Depending on your experience and competence, you will also operate as a Depot Driver and support rolling stock inspections, giving you a varied and hands-on role across operations.
Location Requirement (Essential)
You must live within 1 hour of Bletchley to be considered.
Applications outside of this radius will not be progressed.
Key Responsibilities
Safely control train movements within depot limits, sidings and operational areas
Carry out shunting, coupling, preparation and disposal of rail vehicles
Operate as a Depot Driver where competent
Conduct rolling stock inspections where required
Deliver operational services in a safe, efficient and timely manner
Follow all National and Company standards, policies and procedures
Carry out dynamic and documented risk assessments
Communicate effectively with control, colleagues and operational teams
Maintain high standards of safety, professionalism and punctuality
Support wider operational delivery and business activities
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Proven experience in Depot Driving or Rail Shunting
Strong safety of the line record (evidence required)
Excellent safety-critical communication skills
Ability to work independently and follow strict procedures
Good colour vision and ability to meet required medical standards
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving ability
Previous experience working in safety-critical rail environments
The Role
Field-based, working across depot and operational rail environments
5 days per week on a 7-day roster (including weekends)
Safety-critical position requiring strict adherence to procedures and standards
Ongoing requirement to maintain competence and training

Who We're Looking For
A working professional with a degree from a Top 30 U.S. university (strongly preferred)
At least 3 years of active, hands-on experience in your field — we're looking for practitioners who are genuinely immersed in their work, not just familiar with it. Candidates who have recently transitioned out of the field may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Facilitators commit to approximately 3 masterclass topics per year, meaning roughly 6 live sessions annually.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of high performing individuals on a major project for Control Risks.
