About the Role 
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Quality Team Leader to support operations at a major automotive manufacturing site. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising inspection teams, overseeing containment and rework activities, and ensuring all work meets the high standards expected by our OEM customers.

 
This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced automotive environment and is committed to delivering quality, efficiency, and strong team performance.

 
 Key Responsibilities 

    •  Supervise, support, and develop a team of Quality Inspectors and temporary specialists
    •  Coordinate containment and rework projects to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to OEM quality standards
    •  Maintain efficient material flow while ensuring there is no disruption to customer production
    •  Accurately capture and manage operational data using the eQCC system
    •  Conduct regular audits, spot checks, and quality inspections to maintain compliance
    •  Liaise with OEM representatives, suppliers, and internal customer teams
    •  Prepare Statements of Work and ensure timesheets are completed accurately and on time
    •  Promote safe working practices and report accidents, hazards, or near misses in line with procedures
    •  Identify opportunities for process improvement and support initiatives to reduce waste
    •  Assist with onboarding new team members and follow company HR processes where required

 
 Requirements 

    •  Previous experience within the automotive industry, ideally working with OEMs or suppliers
    •  Proven leadership experience in a quality, inspection, or supervisory role
    •  Strong understanding of quality audits and process compliance within a manufacturing environment
    •  Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
    •  Experience using ASRS and eQCC systems

About the team
You’ll work in one of our operational sites - the heart of Amazon’s customer experience - leading and developing teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- To qualify for this programme, you must:
- Be a UK national, a non-UK national with the right to work in the UK, or an EU national with settled status in the UK
- Have lived in the UK, an EEA country, or a British Overseas Territory for 3 years or more prior to commencing the apprenticeship (September 2026)
- Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the programme until March 2029)
- Be resident in the UK for the entire duration of the programme
- Not be registered on another UK government-funded course ending August 2026 or later
- Be 18 years old or older before entering an Amazon building (September 2026)

Are you ready to take on the role of Hydropower Lead,in our rapidly expanding hydro team. You will be responsible for undertaking both a technical role on projects within our energy business and a business role comprising team leadership and business development. You will be aware that the hydro has a strong international dimension and while collaborating with hydro colleagues across the globe there will be a focus on projects in the UK and Ireland and countries throughout Europe and India (EURI).

Projects may include all stages of design from feasibility to detailed design and site construction supervision both in the UK and internationally. Our clients are a mix between large energy utility generators and private developers and contractors.

Here’s what you’ll do:

As our Hydropower Lead, you will be a senior member of the team and responsible for: developing and leading a high performing team, project delivery and developing and maintaining client, supply chain and internal relationships on an international basis.

Coordinate with AECOM's Technical Practice Leads to match team skills with market trends and drive strategic technical leadership hires.

Coordinate multi-disciplinary design of hydropower energy infrastructure.

Respond to technical queries.

Act as lead verifier on reports including technical feasibility studies and design reports (depending on core engineering discipline)

Direct less senior members of staff and mentor more junior engineers.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

BEng (Hons) degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical or Environmental)

Chartered status or actively working towards chartership

This role, with a strong technical focus, requires candidates to have a background in civil, electrical, mechanical, environmental or project management experience in the hydropower sector and demonstration of a high degree of technical competence.

Experience leading projects in the first of the following – but the others may also be an advantage:

Hydroelectric design – conventional and pumped storage.

Hydroelectric construction

Hydroelectric commissioning

Developing teams

Working with clients and collaborators on an international level

Ideally you'll have:

Membership of a recognized professional body relative to our core markets.

Strong track record of achieving/exceeding financial KPIs and driving business development.

Experience working with various sectors, including infrastructure, energy, transportation, and commercial development.

Experience in leading and growing large teams and successful financial performance and business development/sales/growth experience in the public or private sectors.

About the team
You’ll work in one of our operational sites - the heart of Amazon’s customer experience - leading and developing teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Our operations include everything from fulfilment centres and delivery stations to corporate support teams. Each site provides unique opportunities to learn, lead, and deliver results. While you’ll be placed within a specific site, you’ll collaborate with leaders across Amazon’s network to share ideas and best practices.

Successful apprentices may progress into management roles across our operations network or other business functions, continuing to grow their leadership and business expertise within Amazon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- To qualify for this programme, you must:
- Be a UK national, a non-UK national with the right to work in the UK, or an EU national with settled status in the UK
- Have lived in the UK, an EEA country, or a British Overseas Territory for 3 years or more prior to commencing the apprenticeship (September 2026)
- Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the programme until March 2029)
- Be resident in the UK for the entire duration of the programme
- Not be registered on another UK government-funded course ending August 2026 or later
- Be 18 years old or older before entering an Amazon building (September 2026)
- Have at least 5 GCSEs C grade (grade 4) or above including Maths and English
- Have 3 A Levels at grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Have at least 2 years' supervisory experience (essential), including experience overseeing projects, operations, budgets, or teams - with accountability for delivery, outcomes, and performance. Direct line management is not required, but you must demonstrate clear ownership and oversight beyond individual contribution.
- Please note, if you have received educational qualifications outside of the UK then we will require a Statement of Comparability to confirm your eligibility for the scheme. Please ensure you obtain one during the application process, through UK ENIC:
- Previous qualifications will be reviewed for funding eligibility and offers are subject to funding approval
- PLEASE NOTE: This position is a 30-month fixed-term contract. You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship.
- This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has little or no knowledge/experience of the occupation
