Role: Senior Mechanical / Product Engineer Product Innovation & R&D Location: South Wales Salary: Circa £45,000 Hours: Monday Friday (40 hour week) We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical / Product Engineer to join a growing engineering and product development team. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects from concept through to production and support innovation, validation, and manufacturing integration. The Client Our client is a manufacturing specialist in glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) storage tanks and bespoke composite engineering solutions. With decades of experience, the company designs and manufactures corrosion-resistant tanks, vessels, and environmental systems for industries including water and wastewater, chemical processing, agriculture, and infrastructure. Leveraging advanced composite manufacturing and filament winding technology, our client has established a strong reputation for delivering durable, high-quality products tailored to demanding industrial applications. Key Responsibilities : Lead product development lifecycle from concept to production release Produce 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings Conduct design reviews and support R&D projects Apply DFM, FEA and value engineering principles Support prototyping, testing, and validation Collaborate with manufacturing, customers, and suppliers Essential Requirements : Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or similar Product design/development experience Strong CAD experience (Inventor / Solid works) Manufacturing and DFM knowledge Testing, validation, and problem-solving expertise Desirable Requirements : FEA experience Willingness to adopt AI Regulated or safety-critical sector experience Lean manufacturing knowledge CNC and prototyping experience Leadership or mentoring experience Personal Attributes: Innovative and solutions-focused Commercially aware Highly organised and practical Strong communicator and team player
