Description:
Your next teaching role could be closer than you think.
We’re working with a range of welcoming primary schools across Hackney looking for enthusiastic and committed Year 1 Teachers who know that the transition from Reception into Key Stage 1 is a huge milestone, and who can make that journey exciting, supportive, and full of confidence-building moments.
If you love helping children grow in independence, develop their reading and writing skills, and discover a real love of learning, we'd love to hear from you.
Every Year 1 class is different, every school has its own personality, but they all share the same goal, helping children build the strong foundations they need to flourish throughout primary school.
If you're someone who can balance high expectations with patience and warmth, creating a classroom where children feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and enjoy learning, this could be your perfect next step.
What you'll be doing:
• Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum
• Supporting children as they transition from the EYFS into Key Stage 1
• Creating a positive, inclusive classroom where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated
• Adapting learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL
• Monitoring progress through ongoing assessment and using this to inform teaching
• Supporting children's early reading, writing, and maths development
• Working closely with Teaching Assistants, colleagues, and parents to support each child's progress
• Managing behaviour with consistency, encouragement, and clear expectations
• Contributing to the wider school community and upholding safeguarding at all times
What we're looking for:
The right fit for this role will be someone who:
• Holds UK QTS
• Has recent experience teaching in a UK primary school, ideally within Key Stage 1
• Understands the importance of the Year 1 curriculum and the transition from EYFS
• Creates engaging lessons that build confidence alongside academic progress
• Builds positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
• Brings enthusiasm, organisation, and a nurturing approach to the classroom
