Description:

About the Company

Established in 2016, Belman is a multi-site precision engineering specialist with facilities in Milton Keynes and Birmingham. We deliver turnkey solutions for the design, manufacture and assembly of high-precision components and assemblies for the Motorsport, Aerospace and Automotive sectors. As a rapidly expanding business at the forefront of precision engineering, we are committed to delivering quality, innovation and operational excellence.

What You Will Be Doing

We are seeking an experienced and motivated CAM Programmer to join our precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled manufacturing professional to work on complex, high-precision components for some of the most demanding industries in the world.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams, you will be responsible for creating, optimising, and maintaining CNC programs for a range of advanced machining centres. You will play a key role in ensuring components are manufactured efficiently, accurately, and to the highest quality standards while supporting the continued growth and success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and optimise CNC machining programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centres using CAM software.
  • Generate efficient machining strategies, toolpaths, and setup documentation to maximise productivity and quality.
  • Work from engineering drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications to develop robust manufacturing processes.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting strategies, speeds, and feeds to optimise machining performance.
  • Support machinists during program prove-outs, first-off production runs, and process validation activities.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues, implementing improvements to reduce cycle times and increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with Production and Engineering teams to ensure programs are production-ready and aligned with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Review and continuously improve existing CNC programs to enhance quality, consistency, and machine utilisation.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, tooling information, and manufacturing records.
  • Support the introduction of new products and prototype components into production.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and professional working environment in line with company health, safety, and quality standards, including adherence to ISO 9001 processes.

What We Are Looking For

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CAM Programmer within a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience programming CNC machining centres, including multi-axis machining applications.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard CAM software such as Hypermill, Mastercam, Fusion 360, Edgecam, Powermill, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, workholding methods, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications, and GD&T.
  • Experience developing machining strategies for prototype and low-volume, high-complexity components.
  • Good understanding of CNC machine controls, ideally Fanuc and/or Heidenhain.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimise manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support machinists and production teams effectively.

Desirable

  • Experience programming Matsuura, DMG Mori, or similar high-performance machining centres.
  • Experience working within Motorsport, Formula One™, Automotive, Aerospace, or other high-precision manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and the ability to make minor design modifications where required.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of tooling optimisation, cycle time reduction, and process capability improvement.

If you are a skilled CAM Programmer looking to join a growing precision engineering business and play an important role in delivering world-class components for the Motorsport, Aerospace and Automotive sectors, we would like to hear from you.
