OverviewJoin Barclays as a Legal Counsel AVP - Customer and Digital Team. You will act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and ensure that consumer banking activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, helping the bank manage legal and regulatory risks. The role involves providing legal advice and strategic business support for Barclays Customer & Digital initiatives, including digital channels and the use of AI technology, across multiple touchpoints from branch to digital journeys.ResponsibilitiesProvide proactive legal advice and support to the consumer banking division on regulatory compliance, regulatory change management, consumer protection, and risk management.Represent the bank in legal proceedings related to consumer banking, including litigation, arbitration, and regulatory enquiries and investigations.Create and periodically review legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and contractual arrangements.Conduct legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations affecting consumer banking operations.Develop and deliver training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to consumer banking.Identify, communicate, and provide guidance on applicable laws, rules and regulations (LRRs) and reflect them in relevant policies, standards, and controls.Advise on policy development, risk mitigation, and control strengthening; collaborate with other functions and business divisions.Assist with complex analyses and problem solving to support regulatory and business initiatives in the digital space.QualificationsQualified lawyer – solicitor or barrister.Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate legal analysis into pragmatic, commercial advice.Solid drafting skills and effective stakeholder management, with a proactive approach to improving processes within Legal.Ability to manage risk and explain complex information clearly to non-legal stakeholders.LocationThis role can be based in Northampton, Birmingham or Glasgow. #J-18808-Ljbffr
