Night-time can be a vulnerable period for our young people, and they rely on adults who bring routine, patience and a steady presence. As a Night Team Leader, you'll guide the night team through challenges, step in confidently during incidents, and ensure the home remains safe, regulated and secure until morning. You'll be the reassuring adult children can trust, while also setting the standard for newer colleagues.

What You'll Do

Every night is different, but consistency is key. As the Night Team Leader, you will:

  • Lead the night team to maintain a calm, safe and structured environment.

  • Support young people with personal care and administer medication where required.

  • Respond quickly and professionally to safeguarding concerns, dysregulation or health needs.

  • Guide and mentor junior staff, modelling high-quality, child-centred practice.

  • Understand the night-time needs of children with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, Down syndrome and Global Development Delay.

  • Recognise the impact of sensory overload, communication barriers, sleep disruption and impulsivity.

  • Ensure accurate night logs are completed and handovers to the day team are clear and thorough.

  • Drive if required for emergencies or urgent safeguarding needs (full UK licence required).

  • Use a trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach to offer predictability, comfort and reassurance.

  • Maintain strong routines to help children feel secure during the night.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for experienced, emotionally steady leaders who can bring calm and confidence to night shifts:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - essential.

  • 3+ years experience in children's residential care, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.

  • Strong background supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, GDD, Down syndrome, epilepsy or FAS.

  • Skilled in responding to dysregulation, night-time anxiety and behaviours that challenge.

  • Able to mentor and guide less experienced staff with confidence and clarity.

  • Physically fit, alert and dependable.

  • Emotionally steady when children cannot regulate themselves.

  • Full UK driving licence required due to the rural location and emergency needs.

Competitive Salaries

  • £34,000 per annum (during probation)
  • Rising to £35,000 per annum (post-probation)

Working Pattern

We operate a consistent pod-based rota to support a healthy work-life balance:

  • Salary 20% above sector average.

  • 36 days of specialist, in-person training annually.

  • Private healthcare and 24/7 GP access.

  • Gym stipend and well being package.

  • Pension scheme and performance bonus opportunities.

  • Free parking and use of communal vehicles.

  • Fully funded Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (if not already held).

  • Clear progression pathway into Deputy Manager roles.
