This individual would report directly to our CEO, volunteering on an ad-hoc basis to provide legal advice, guidance and support to the Charity. We are asking for, on average, 3 hours per week of support.
Responsibilities

Provide key support to the General Counsel, presenting comprehensive legal advice and support to the CEO and Board of Directors/Trustees around key legal issues presented to the Charity. Support the development of long-term strategies, including supporting the advancement of the Charity, and any commercial subsidiaries. Where appropriate, develop and lead legal training. Prepare documents, evidence, arguments and identify legal precedents that can be used to justify the organisation's decisions and actions. Act as a point of contact to the organisation in relation to any legal matters or action. Support keeping the organisation up to date and informed of new and existing laws and regulations that are applicable to our operations and industry.

Skills

Be a qualified solicitor or recognised legal professional, with recent experience in providing legal advice and support to charities or companies in the UK. Experience as a solicitor or legal professional within the non-profit/charity sector is essential. Possess detailed knowledge of specific laws and regulations pertaining to the industry that Youth4Youth works in, as well as local laws within the United Kingdom. Ability to interpret and convey complex legal information in an understandable format. Public speaking skills and the ability to present and defend legal arguments.

The primary function of the Senior Surveyor is to examine and report on vessels and other marine and offshore structures during and after construction relative to compliance with the applicable requirements for meeting associated statutory and special service requirements related to international regulations, classification rules, or client-specified rules/guidelines. What You Will Do:

Acts as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes. What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent in an appropriate technical discipline is preferred; should have previous related marine industry experience and appropriate certification and/or licenses in area of specialization. All new hire candidates are to have as a minimum the following:a degree or equivalent from an institution recognized within a relevant field of engineering or physical science, ora qualification from a suitable marine or nautical institution and relevant seagoing experience as a certified ship officer, andproficiency in the English language.Typically requires a minimum of years experience in an appropriate technical discipline and/or industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the sea and its effect on ships and structures. A sound foundation of survey training and practical experience with vessels in service. Must have a strong working knowledge of ABS Classification Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy. Ability to read engineering plans and have a good understanding of shipbuilding practices and vessel operations. Knowledge of various formats for completion of certificates. Must be familiar with logging procedures and preparing invoices. Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, pertinent information relative to assigned area of technical expertise. Ability to analyze problems and propose solutions. Responsiveness to customers. Ability to work well with others. Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System. Must hold a valid/legal right to work status in the UK.

Reporting Relationships:

The incumbent reports to a senior-level surveyor under the direction of the Survey Manager, District/Country Manager, or Regional Vice President, as appropriate. May supervise other surveyors or clerical support staff as applicable.
